INTERIOR & DESIGN PHOTOGRAPHY

What does Interior & Design Photography mean? In general knowledge or layman terms it is construed as :- photographs of a structure’s interior. Interiors are often more challenging to capture: ambient light available through windows or skylights is often limited, and sometimes filtered, as through colourful stained glass windows in churches and historical buildings. Supplemental lighting in the form of a flash helps accurately capture interiors. One of my key ingredients in many successful interior photography often involves the balancing of natural lights and my supplemental lights.

How do you apply this to a commissioned project for your client’s marketing objectives? Be it a luxury hotel or resort, offices in a metropolitan city, an independent restaurant or spa, retails and commercial sectors or even private residences; these are the moments that require you to be creative in managing portrayals of each of these venue. Balancing the arts and financial value of each photo captured at the end of the day is up to your judgement in understanding your target market.
